The successful candidate will explore fundamental mechanisms that control RNA polymerase pausing and termination, regulation of gene expression by transcription attenuation and translational control mechanisms, structural studies of RNA polymerase using cryo-EM, and/or genome-wide approaches to identify novel RNA-based regulatory mechanisms using RNET-seq, Term-seq, and Structure-seq.
