Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Research efforts for this position will primarily focus on an NIH Funded Study investigating the mechanistic pathway defining the link between joint loading and osteoarthritis development following knee injury. The postdoctoral research associate will primarily be responsible for leading the day-to-day study, conduct data analytics and outcome interpretation related to movement biomechanics and biomarkers of cartilage health as measured by magnetic resonance imaging. The post-doctoral research associate is expected to work in a highly collaborative fast paced environment. The post-doctoral fellow will interact with other researchers in the departments of Exercise and Sport Science, Biomedical Engineering, Orthopaedics, and the Thurston Arthritis Research Center on a regular basis.

UNC CEED provides outstanding evidence-based, multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient care for individuals with eating disorders. The fellowship position will be 80% clinical and 20% research. The fellow’s primary clinical responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive eating disorder evaluations and providing individual, group, and family-based psychotherapy treatments. CEED is the primary hospital-based eating disorders treatment program for the state and treats a full range of eating disorders across the age span, with a racial, ethnic, sex/gender identifying, and socioeconomically diverse patient population.

This Postdoctoral Research Associate would support studies to examine a recently identified signaling pathway in the development and pro-tolerogenic function of mregDCs. This work would involve primary dendritic cell generation and purification, the genetic manipulation of dendritic cells, and the execution of various T cell-DC co-culture assays requiring a familiarity with flow cytometry. Additional studies will require in vivo tumor studies and the execution and analysis of single-cell RNAseq and single-cell ATACseq. Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

This Postdoctoral Research Associate would support studies to examine a role for the tumor-intrinsic NLRP3 inflammasome in immune evasion associated with the process of tumor dormancy and treatment resistance persistor cell development, tumor relapse, and metastatic progression. This work would involve a combination of ex vivo tumor-T cell co-culture assays, the use of in vivo tumor models, and the utilization of tumor clinical specimens. Techniques would include the use of CRISPR/Cas9-targeted gene deletion, microbead and FACS cell purification, flow cytometry analysis, Western blot, qrt-PCR, ELISA, RNAseq, scRNAseq, micro-CT imaging, IHC, FISH, and proximity ligation assays. Additional work involving performing and analyzing spatial transcriptomics may also be involved.
