1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Solid-State Sodium batteries
Summary of PhD Program:
The Galileo research project (Galileo, NFR 352501, Green, electrode agnostic, polymer electrolytes for Na-ion batteries) seeks to lay the groundwork to develop fluorine free, agnostic polymers combined with fluorine free Na-ion salts for recyclable by design, safe and scalable polymer electrolytes Na-ion batteries for use in stationary storage or mobility applications. The position is affiliated to the Functional Materials and Materials Chemistry research group (FACET) (https://www.ntnu.edu/ima/research/facet ) within our department. Research activities at the department cover a range of topics including functional materials, materials chemistry, nanomaterials, ceramics, electrochemical energy technology, corrosion, physical metallurgy, and both metallurgical and electrochemical process engineering.

7. Fully Funded PhD Position in user centered design of new digital navigational tools

In the CUED project, we focus on enhancing maritime watch-keeping through the integration of human factors and advanced technology. This innovative research project investigates crucial questions at the intersection of human behaviour and digital technology in maritime navigation. 8. Fully Funded PhD Position in -80°C cooling technology with natural working fluids
Summary of PhD Program:
Through a collaboration agreement between CERN and NorCC (Norwegian Centre for CERN-related Research), this position is one of a number of jointly-funded NTNU-CERN PhD vacancies in the field of the technological sciences (engineering projects). The successful candidate will spend 18 months at NTNU followed by 18 months at CERN, while remaining active in the PhD Programme at both institutions for the full 36 months. 9. Fully Funded PhD Position in Fire safety and computational modelling (CFD) of fires in wooden buildings
Summary of PhD Program:
The project work will have emphasis on computational work, i.e., investigations using CFD and development of submodels. A focus will be on the interactions between fire development and ventilation of the compartment. It will include collaboration and participation in experimental work. Close collaboration and communication with relevant actors in the FRIC network are required to optimize the impact of the work in the relevant areas. Summary of PhD Program:
The project aims to develop and describe advanced energy systems by integrating new clean heat elevating technologies and artificial intelligence to optimize and enhance the energy efficiency of distribution systems. Various heat sources (e.g. surplus heat from process plants etc.) and possible thermal energy storage devices will be considered and integrated.
