4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Göttingen is one of the world’s leading research institutions in the field of solar physics and planetary research with around 300 employees. The interdisciplinary research focus is the investigation of the development, diversity and dynamics of planets, moons, small bodies, the sun and solar-like stars. The MPS develops and operates scientific instruments for current and future space missions (e.g. ESA, NASA), and carries out cosmochemical laboratory investigations of meteorites as well as numerical modeling on state-of-the-art supercomputers.

Application Deadline: 15 January 2025

6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Max Planck Institute for Physics (MPP) invites applications for Postdoctoral position(s) focused on R&D in connection with the LEGEND experiment, a next generation large scale neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decay experiment based on HPGe detectors. Germanium based 0νββ decay experiments are designed to investigate the nature of the neutrino and to test Lepton number conservation by searching for 0νββ decay of 76Ge. The goal is to either establish Lepton number violation and the Majorana nature of the neutrino or to push the relevant exclusion limits to the neutrino mass scale indicated by neutrino oscillations.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, Germany, has an opening for a Postdoc-Position (m/f/d) in the Max Planck Research Group for Biophysical Regulation of Cell State Dynamics of Dr. Kate Miroshnikova. Our research aims to uncover mechanistic principles of mammalian tissue architecture maintenance and its role in genome integrity and proper cellular function. We further aim to understand how these mechanisms are perturbed with cancer onset and progression. Discovering these regulatory principles will facilitate the development of regenerative therapies and more effective diagnostics and treatments against cancers.

8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The study species is the Common blackbird (Turdus merula) which is either stationary year- round, partial, or full migratory. The clear-cut behavioral dichotomy of migrant versus resident phenotypes enables us to investigate both proximate and ultimate causes of migration within the same species. Using newest IoT biologging technology, we monitor, in a collaborative effort, blackbirds from various populations across entire Europe with an unprecedented high spatial and temporal resolution. In addition, we also study migration strategies of birds originating from full resident, partial or fully migratory populations that are bred under common garden conditions in our breeding facilities but then released into the wild.

9. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

This position is connected to the department’s ongoing research on the theme “From Trust in Science to Knowledge in Relation.” We are especially interested in proposals for research projects that offer historical perspective on contemporary relationships between science and politics in liberal democracies, including histories of academic freedom and political speech at universities and research institutions. The proposed research should situate current controversies within longer historical trajectories and in relation to broader political, social, and economic contexts, while also critically reflecting on the historical production and contestation of concepts such as academic freedom, liberal democracy, and the scientific community.

10. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking to fill Postdoctoral positions within the REionization Complementary Approach Project (RECAP), which aims at unravelling the complexity of the cosmic reionization history and of the energy and baryon exchange between ionizing sources and their environment, through the synergy between multi-scale tailored simulations and multi-wavelength observations. The project will exploit proprietary and archival datasets from state-of-the-art facilities, such as JWST, VLT and ALMA. The design of new observations will be driven by tailored simulations, which will also support the data interpretation.
