Summary of PhD Program:
The position will be affiliated with the research program DESCRYPT – Echoes of History: Analysis and Decipherment of Historical Writings funded by the Swedish Riksbankens Jubileumsfond from January 2025–December 2032. The program investigates new approaches to analyzing and deciphering historical sources with non-standard, rare or unknown writing systems through advanced computational linguistics and artificial intelligent techniques. The key outcome of the program is the development of robust, scalable tools to assist researchers in the Humanities in unlocking these historical writings.

6. Fully Funded PhD Position in Health Economic Evaluation
Summary of PhD Program:
The PhD Fellowship is devoted to carrying out specific tasks related to the project entitled Holistic and sustainable lung cancer control strategies (LC-CONTROL), which is a 4-year project starting in January 2025 and is funded by the Norwegian Cancer Society. The overarching objective of LC-CONTROL is to identify a set of coordinated lung cancer control programs (i.e., tobacco control, screening, and cancer treatment) that sustainably and efficiently reduce the burden of lung cancer. LC-CONTROL will generate the first holistic policy evaluation framework to quantify the long-term outcomes of novel lung cancer control strategies, including health impacts on lung cancer as well as diseases detected by low-dose CT that extend beyond lung cancer.

7. Fully Funded PhD Position in ML-assisted seismic inversion and geomechanical modelling of CO2 storage
Summary of PhD Program:
The Section of Applied Basin Analysis at the Department of Geosciences, University of Oslo (UiO) seeks a highly motivated candidate for a PhD research fellowship aimed at de-risking CO2 storage sites in the offshore North Sea. The PhD research project targets quantitative interpretation and geomechanical modling by integrating seismic, well log, lab and literature data to de-risk the CO2 storage sites in the offshore Norway. The research outcomes would better understand geological heterogeneity of reservoir, seal and overburden rocks that challenges seal integrity, fluid injectivity, storage performance, plume evolution, and pressure-build ups of multi-site storage licenses. Moreover, the research will help to suggest the best practice to integrate machine learning to de-risk CO2 storage sites.

The fellowship is connected to the wider research field of children, youth and media. The research environment explores research- and societal issues affiliated with media use by children and youth. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to research on online opportunities and risks, and how these are influenced by other factors, such as home environment, parental mediation, school situation and online engagements. We are also interested in broader factors such as new media developments, media politics, public debates, regulation and children’s rights in the digital environment.
