10. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Cascading effects of climate change coupled with increased human demand for water have resulted in greater opportunity for human exposure to geogenic water contaminants around the globe. These water contaminants (e.g., arsenic) affect the gastric health of individuals living in rural communities, agriculture workers, Indigenous Peoples, and other underserved/minority populations. The post-doctoral researcher will build on our existing NSF-funded Frontier Research in Earth Sciences (FRES) project, Evolution of Subsurface Microbe-Rock-Fluid Systems (SMRFS; #2120733; PI McIntosh and Co-PI Reiners) that is investigating the geologic history and drivers for fluid-rock reactions and microbial activity across the Colorado Plateau and integrate geoscience research with health outcomes to identify environmental processes which may lead to greater risk for infection progressing to cancer, working with new public health and medical collaborators.
