1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Model-Based Testing for Evidence-Driven Black-Box Checking
Summary of PhD Program:
Nowadays so much new and complex software is being developed that there are by far not enough specialists to test this software properly. As a result, companies need more time/resources to develop software, and their products (which we all use) may contain critical bugs. In this project, we investigate methods for automatic software testing. In test automation, model-based testing is the state-of-the-art technique, where tests are generated fully automatically from a model (typically a state-transition system), and then executed on the software system.
Application Deadline: 6 Oct 2024
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in hardware security and FPGA design
Summary of PhD Program:
Public-key cryptography is vulnerable to mathematical attacks by quantum computers. Governments are encouraging organizations to adopt new post-quantum cryptography algorithms to secure critical infrastructure. However, these new algorithms are still susceptible to physical attacks, while current testing infrastructures to assess their resistance to physical attacks sacrifice quality for run time. This project investigates new methods inspired by genomics (to improve quality) in combination with digital hardware design (to reduce run time) to thoroughly evaluate the security of post-quantum protected implementations against deep-learning-based side-channel analysis.

9. Fully Funded PhD Position in measuring social interaction
Summary of PhD Program:
This project aims to model the social and physical activity of high school students, measured through sensors and a smartwatch application, in relation to the social, cultural and physical environment. This will allow you to better understand the school environment and to propose interventions to make the school more inclusive. In recent work, we showed that a smartwatch application can be used to capture meaningful data about children’s play in primary school playgrounds. This data can be analysed to understand how the social, cultural, and physical environment influences children’s activities for better and for worse.
Application Deadline: 14 Oct 2024
10. Fully Funded PhD Position in Machine Learning for Green Credit Scores
