1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Crystal structure evolution at surfaces of perovskite electrocatalysts during cycling

Summary of PhD Program:

Electrocatalytic water splitting is a promising source of green energy, but the high energy requirement of the oxygen evolution reaction necessitates the use of costly, scarce and unstable precious metal catalysts, which pose a challenge for large-scale implementation. To address this problem, this study focuses on optimizing perovskite-type oxides, which are a stable, adaptable, and low-cost alternative with good intrinsic oxygen evolution reaction activity.

8. Fully Funded PhD Position in in vitro gametogenesis within the context of fertility

Summary of PhD Program:

The earth faces an unprecedented extinction crisis. Assisted reproductive technologies and cryobanking are crucial for preserving mammalian genetic diversity, but challenges persist due to lack of oocyte scarcity. Using somatic cells for generating offspring through in vitro gametogenesis has been explored. We aim to establish protocols to enhance reprogramming efficiency of somatic cells into induced pluripotent stem cells and to create a 3D co-culture system allowing the growth of follicles. Using pigs as a domestic large animal model, we aim to bridge the gap between mice and wildlife applications, aiding biodiversity conservation.
