6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The specific problem we aim to solve is to make it easier for users of cloud computing to select the compute instance type (e.g., AWS EC2 instance type) that is best suited for a given workload they are trying to run. (There are many instance types available, spanning e.g. CPU and GPU instances, and more instance types frequently become available.) For instance, if a user has just run a particular Python script with an 8-GPU node, it is likely that if we encounter that same Python script again, the user is likely to want to use an 8-GPU node again. In another case, we may have a precompiled code (e.g., from a C++ codebase), and we want to use static/binary analysis to determine whether any parallelism or GPU code/libraries are included or linked; we could then determine whether to exclude GPU or many-core instances from consideration (this doesn’t necessarily require AI).

8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A new postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Jennifer Herington at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which is focused on the discovery of novel therapeutics and the use of targeted drug delivery to inhibit uterine myometrial contractility for prevention of preterm labor. The available position is to conduct exciting studies that will advance at a rapid pace to characterize the performance of new drug delivery systems (DDSs) to suppress uterine contractions that lead to preterm birth. This is a collaborative project between an industrial partner that will fabricate drug conjugates for in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo testing in the laboratories of Drs. Herington and Todd Giorgio (Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University, whose laboratory specializes on developing and testing advanced DDSs).

9. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Siricilla laboratory is focused on identifying novel therapeutic agents to manage infection-induced preterm birth and protecting the fetus against in-utero inflammation. The approaches include a large-scale screening of a customized library of molecules targeting the druggable transcriptome associated with infection-induced inflammation leading to preterm birth. The studies utilize pharmacological and immunological assays, and our laboratory is equipped for high-throughput screening of molecules using an ex vivo fetal membrane explant-based assay, high-throughput combination synergy screening assay and pre-clinical in vivo testing in mouse models of preterm labor. Our laboratory uses human fetal membrane samples and mouse models of preterm labor.
