1. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Department of Economics, in partnership with Nuffield College, is offering full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellowships for candidates who have recently completed, or are close to completing, a doctorate in a relevant field. Fellowships are full-time and tenable for a fixed term of three years from September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The fellowships offer early career researchers the opportunity to develop their research portfolio within one of the world’s leading Economics departments and so strengthen their future position in the academic job market. These positions are designed for suitably qualified candidates with a clear preference for not going on the junior academic job market in 2024/25.

2. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The overarching goal of the project is to gain an understanding of fundamental mechanisms of protein synthesis from both a biochemical and biophysical perspective. The groups have been investigating the interaction of two ancient cellular machineries, i.e. the protein translation and cytoskeletal machineries and this project will investigate how these cross-talk. We use a multi-disciplinary approach that includes expertise and collaborations in enzymology, biochemistry, structural biology, and cell biology, and use a combination of in vitro and ex cellulo approaches. The group has access to a range of state-of-the-art facilities and technologies within the Centre of Human Genetics, and more broadly as part of the University of Oxford.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join a Prudence Trust funded research programme, led by Dr Lucy Foulkes, examining mental health interventions in secondary schools. In this role, the candidate will focus specifically on a project exploring self-diagnosis of mental health problems in adolescents. The post is based in the Department of Experimental Psychology in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter in Oxford. The post is full time however consideration would be given to candidates wishing to work part time (minimum 60% FTE), on a pro rata basis, with a commensurate reduction in duties.

4. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
This research project aims to explore the role of immune cells from patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) at different stages of disease and to understand how they interact with cells of the central nervous system (CNS). Using innovative techniques this research aims to expose new disease-associated immune cell populations and reinforce how environmental context is critical to their phenotype and subsequent role in disease. Our incomplete understanding of the causes and pathways involved in the onset and progression of MS limits our ability to effectively diagnose and treatment patients and therefore this research aims to be clinically translatable and aid drug development.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral Qualitative Researcher to join the Medical Sociology and Health Experiences Research Group (MS&HERG) within the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences. You will work on a study which aims to build a comprehensive understanding of UK patients’ experiences of endometriosis healthcare, integrated with understandings from professionals in primary care and specialist services, to identify opportunities to use this learning for improvements in care journeys.
The post is funded to deliver a newly awarded study funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research, Health and Social Care Delivery Research (NIHR HSDR), entitled ‘Understanding and improving endometriosis experiences: a qualitative study into patient and healthcare professionals’ experiences of management, diagnosis and treatment’. The Principal Investigator is Dr Abigail McNiven, and the wider project team includes Professor Christian Becker, Dr Emma Cox (CEO of Endometriosis UK), Dr Sharon Dixon, Ms Neelam Heera-Shergill (founder of Cysters), Dr Lisa Hinton, and Dr Katy Vincent.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are seeking a creative and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a research programme led by Professor Alison Noble on federated learning for healthcare imaging collaboration. This is associated with her Turing AI World-Leading Researcher Fellowship and a grant that has collected a large multi-site fetal echocardiography dataset of normal and congenital heart disease cases. You will be part of the Noble research group at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, based at the Old Road Campus Research Building in Headington. The full-time post is funded by UKRI and InnoHK and is fixed-term for 12 months.

7. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
An enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher looking to develop an exciting line of research with Dr Dafinca in investigating synaptic dysfunction in iPS-derived neurons from patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). iPSCs derived from ALS patients will be differentiated to motor and cortical neurons and their synaptic function assessed at the proteomic and transcriptomic levels. Specifically, we aim to 1) Establish an efficient protocol for the isolation of synaptic regions from motor and cortical neuron cultures, 2) determine the differences in proteomic composition of synaptosomes in patients versus healthy (isogenic) controls, 3) validate targets in post-mortem tissue in collaboration with Oxford Brain Bank. The ultimate goal is to identify potential therapeutic targets involved in synaptic dysfunction.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We seek to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work with the Goodwin group at the Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour. The project will investigate how sex informs the relationships between transcriptomic signatures and specific anatomical, physiological, and functional properties of cells in the nervous system to understand sexual behaviour. The successful candidate will be a motivated individual with a background in biology/neuroscience and a long-term interest in understanding the circuit basis of brain function and behaviour.
