Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Epigenome states are dynamically regulated during the development of an individual and throughout its life, but to what extent diversity (e.g., cell-to-cell heterogeneity and individual differences) emerges during the establishment and maintenance of epigenome state is not known. We aim to understand the molecular basis of epigenome diversity and its effects on the response to environmental cues or cell fate changes through cell- and tissue-level analyses using mammals, including humans. In the future, we want to explore the link between epigenome diversity and individual phenotypic diversity in disease susceptibility and other areas.

Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience or a related field with a background including electrophysiological or imaging experience, optogenetic experience, analysis of neural and behavioral data, and knowledge of the neurobiology of memory. Candidates with direct experience of multi-channel recordings from the CNS, software programming and/or electrical engineering expertise for both data analysis and device control and experience of behavioral training of mice will be most competitive.

Lipids are the most predominant yet diverse biological molecule, with multiple biological function in cellular membranes, signal transduction, and energy storage. Using seed plants and green microalgae as model systems, our research team investigates the spatiotemporal dynamics of plant lipids to address the molecular mechanism underlying growth and developmental control. The job is performing research and development to improve the reusability of biomedical data including omics data that is obtained in biological and medical research centers in RIKEN, especially in RIKEN Yokohama Campus. He or she also work to establish rules for data formats and metadata to follow up-to-date standards in this field. This research team study cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) based on nanophotonic devices. A cavity QED system is a hybrid system with photons and atoms confined in an optical cavity, and it is an ideal interface between atomic and photonic qubits. We develop novel nanophotonic devices, such as optical nanofiber cavities, and construct cavity QED systems. Based on such systems, we will aim to realize scalable quantum technologies.
