5. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking research technicians and highly motivated, independent, and dynamic postdoctoral research fellows to undertake studies at the UNC HIV Cure Center, specifically in a project seeking to understand HIV persistence and eradication strategies for the cure of HIV. The UNC HIV Cure Center is a multi-disciplinary research center with various current translational studies. Our laboratory is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of HIV latency and persistent HIV infection-associated complications. We seek to discover new anti-HIV latency therapeutic targets that will ultimately lead to the eradication of HIV, including kick and kill, direct killing, and deep latency.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Bhatt Lab at UNC Chapel Hill is seeking motivated, talented and creative scientists with demonstrable bioanalytical expertise to join our team. In our lab, we are advancing precision medicine by studying the gut microbiome which contributes to interindividual variability in drug responses, including efficacy and toxicity. By studying bacterial drug metabolism, we will develop strategies to predict and prevent drug-induced injury and reduce medication side effects, thus promoting public health. The candidate will have a strong background in bioanalytical techniques and method development using a variety of platforms including but not limited to LC-MS/MS, HPLC, etc. The central role for the candidate is in developing assays to quantify metabolites of drug metabolism generated by gut microbes and the host using tandem LC-MS/MS methodology.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Nye lab is looking for a postdoctoral associate to conduct forecasts of river herring bycatch in the midwater trawl fishery of the Northeast US. The postdoc will refine existing models to operationalize bycatch forecasts for the Mid-Atlantic midwater trawl fisheries. In Year 1, the postdoc will 1) conduct interviews and hold workshops with fishermen to determine what forecasts would be the most useful in their decision making, 2) examine patterns of bycatch in fisheries observer data, and 3) explore the use of joint species spatial distribution models to predict the areas where river herring are more likely to be caught with mackerel and herring.

13. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Kelada Lab is recruiting a post-doctoral research associate to join the lab’s research program on genetic and genomic determinants of air pollution response and how these relate to the development of chronic respiratory diseases including asthma and COPD. We aim to identify interactions between exposure to the common air pollutant ozone, the genome (e.g., DNA sequence variants), epigenome (e.g., chromatin accessibility), and gene expression, and determine how these interactions influence the respiratory disease phenotypes. For these experiments and analyses, we will leverage the genetic and phenotype diversity of the Collaborative Cross mouse population, which we have utilized for more than decade to identify quantitative trait loci for multiple respiratory disease phenotypes, and focus on key respiratory cell populations in the lung, namely epithelial cells and alveolar macrophages. Lastly, we will experimentally validate the statistical associations we detect using a variety of in vitro and in vivo approaches.
