2. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
A full-time postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Brian Rodrigues, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBC. The individual will be responsible for the design and execution of research projects involved in investigating the switch in cardiac energy supply (from glucose to fatty acid) following diabetes. Applicants must therefore have extensive knowledge and experience in various lab techniques to investigate cardiac metabolism, using animal modeling, cell culture (primary endothelial cells and cardiomyocyte isolation), molecular biology, and biochemistry.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We have an outstanding opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Radiology – University of British Columbia to engage in a closely collaborative research and development project with our industry partner, Torus Biomedical Solutions. The goal of this project is to develop a software solution that facilitates automatic image-based measurements within an existing intraoperative assessment product. The postdoctoral candidate will have the support, guidance, and supervision from the engineering team at the company led by Dr. Shahram Amiri as well as Dr. ilker Hacihaliloglu assistant professor at the Department of Radiology – University of British Columbia.

4. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Wisnovsky & Williams labs (UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences) are inviting applications for a jointly-supervised postdoctoral fellowship position. The fellow will lead a translational research program aimed at mapping and manipulating immune cell glycosylation in the tumor microenvironment. This research project will involve extensive work with syngeneic mouse models, primary human immune cells and clinical samples. The overall goal is to describe and functionally characterize glycosylated antigens on tumor-associated immune cells that can serve as next-generation targets and biomarkers for tumor immunotherapy.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Hohl Research Group in the UBC Department of Emergency Medicine will conduct real-world drug safety and surveillance research using new adverse drug event data being generated by a technological intervention designed to improve clinical communication of patients’ adverse drug events. The incumbent may also have the opportunity to participate in drug safety and effectiveness evaluation of treatments used for opioid poisoning in emergency departments using data derived from the Canadian Emergency Department Research Network.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Forest fires throughout Canada have been increasing in both their area burned and severity and as a result the forestry and wildfire communities in Canada require up-to-date, accurate and consistent information about forest fuels in order to better manage for these fires into the future. This research project, a collaboration between UBC and the Canadian Forest Service will focus on the use of air and space-based laser scanning data to model a suite of critical forest fuel attributes and then link them to long time series satellite optical observations and extrapolate them wall-to-wall across Canada’s forest ecosystems. We anticipate using a combination of empirical, geometrical optical models and machine learning approaches to derive and extrapolate these estimates from the field, to laser scanning plots and ultimately across Canada.

9. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Advanced Numerical Simulation Laboratory (ANSLab; PI: Dr. Carl Ollivier-Gooch) is seeking a post-doctoral researcher for a collaborative project to develop high-order, curved meshing techniques to improve the accuracy of discontinuous Galerkin (DG) finite element methods. Recent work by our collaborator at the University of Tennessee has shown that optimal placement of high-order nodes can significantly improve the performance of DG methods compared with methods that place high-order nodes based only on geometric considerations. Our role in this project is to develop and test the meshing techniques required in two and three dimensions.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
ICORD, in the UBC Faculty of Medicine, Vancouver Campus, is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to join an established group of scientists and clinicians in the laboratory of Dr. Andrei Krassioukov for a two-year term (with the possibility of extension), starting immediately. ICORD is a world-leading health research centre focused on spinal cord injury. From the lab-based cellular level of understanding injury to rehabilitation and recovery, our researchers are dedicated to developing new treatments, strategies, and cures from the time of trauma to post-injury recovery. Dr. Krassioukov’s basic and clinical research has been focused on autonomic dysfunctions following SCI for more than 20 years. He has developed a multi-disciplinary laboratory that is internationally recognized for expertise in autonomic research.
