2. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Clemente research group invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to perform high-level complex research activities for projects in cardioimmunology. Our main research topics include immune responses in cardioncology, viral and autoimmune myocarditis. We use genetically modified mouse models to uncover the role of immune cells in these settings. The projects will expose the PDF to a wide variety of scientific questions and approaches, including exploring changes in immunological responses and understanding mechanistic relationships between the immune system and heart function

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta in Edmonton is recruiting two postdoctoral fellows in computational psychiatry focusing on Real-World Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) on Health Data (e.g., claims, prescriptions, emergency visits, hospitalization records, laboratory tests, clinical, behavioral and cognitive assessments, surveys). The aim of the projects is to improve health outcomes and facilitate evidence-based decision making about mental and substance use disorders and other adverse outcomes (e.g., overdose) for clinicians, health service providers and policymakers through the translation and implementation of AI and ML in the real world beyond research settings.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The ME Lab investigates the cognitive and neural mechanisms that support our ability to retrieve memories for naturalistic events, including autobiographical experiences from our personal past. We are particularly interested in understanding the constructive processes that enable us to edit memories—updating, enhancing, and sometimes distorting our memories. The ME Lab combines behavioral, patient-based and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) approaches in young and older adults, and uses novel paradigms, virtual reality, and wearable camera technologies that allow for investigations of memory in real-world environments- thus, maintaining the ecological validity of memories while exerting control over their properties.

5. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The AAT-Lab is directed by Dr. Kim Adams in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine of the University of Alberta. The AAT Lab studies the role of assistive technology (AT) for engaging children with significant physical impairments in learning and play. The AAT Lab’s clinical research stream supports the evaluation and implementation of AT and assistive robots for children to engage in play and learning. The AAT Lab’s technical research is focused on developing new hybrid brain-computer interface (BCI) paradigms, robotic controls, and robotic interface designs.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We use human islets, cell culture and animal models and human donor pancreas samples to understand the impact of the islet/pancreas “neighbourhood” on islet endocrine cell function and survival. Current projects include (i) investigating interactions between cells of the exocrine pancreas (duct and acinar) and islets, (ii) building the first comprehensive atlas of the pancreas in cystic fibrosis and (iii) studying the impact of islet microvascular destabilization on islet function and survival.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The research of the Intercultural Communication Lab broadly concerns the social and psychological dynamics that take place when people from different ethnolinguistic backgrounds interact. Programs of research include language learning and use across diverse social and cultural contexts, including educational contexts; the interrelations between language development and the psychological acculturation of ethnolinguistic identity; and the role of gender in language education engagement and achievement. Our research informs both educational and immigration programming and policy.

8. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Foundations of Robust and Trustworthy Machine Learning (FORT) lab led by Prof Nidhi Hegde has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral researcher. The FORT lab focuses on a fundamental approach to developing robust and trustworthy algorithms for machine learning. This largely applies to notions of privacy and fairness, but also to more general concepts of robustness and stability. Applications range from supervised learning to bandits to language models to image segmentation. The current open position is for a project on Distributionally Robust Optimization as applied to these themes.

9. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a collaborative project jointly led by Prof Nidhi Hegde (University of Alberta, Amii) and Prof Dhanya Sridhar (Université de Montréal, MILA) and funded through the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR). The focus of the project is on strategic classification and causal models. In particular, we aim to study long-term fairness and develop robust learning algorithms in a strategic classification framework.
