1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Nanomedicine Based Cancer Therapy
Summary of PhD Program:
Cancer initiation and progression depend on the interplay between heterogeneous tumor cells and the surrounding tumor microenvironment (TME), consisting of various types of stromal cells and the extracellular matrix (ECM). All these events are known to associate to actions of cell secreted nanovesicles (extracellular vesicles (EVs)). Our research focuses on understanding the composition and roles of such tumor derived EVs by using in vivo and ex vivo models to develop novel cancer diagnostic and targeted therapeutic.

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Computational Cancer Biology
Summary of PhD Program:
The Izzi group (https://github.com/Izzilab) is a leader in developing computational tools for the analysis of ECM in high-dimensional, multi-modal data. As a doctoral researcher in our group, you will participate in developing machine learning/AI algorithms to deconvolute the connections between ECM niches and functional cancer cell states at the single-cell, spatial, and proteomics level. Expectedly, these algorithms will help identifying druggable ECM targets in cancer, which will be validated in our cellular and in vivo cancer models.
Application Deadline: 30.Sep.2024
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in NMR Spin Hyperpolarization and Metal-Free Catalysis
Summary of PhD Program:
The position is part of the Research Council of Finland research project ”Enhancing NMR Sensitivity Through Metal-Free Catalysis“ led by Associate Professor Vladimir Zhivonitko and involves aspects of experimental NMR spectroscopy, nuclear spin hyperpolarization using parahydrogen, molecular modelling, and catalysis using metal-free compounds. As a doctoral researcher, you will be part of a multidisciplinary research group and work on studying, designing, and applying new types of metal-free catalysts for parahydrogen-induced polarization (PHIP) and signal amplification by reversible exchange (SABRE) utilizing experimental and theoretical methods. The specific focus of the project will depend on the specific research interests of the doctoral researcher.
