1. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Göttingen is one of the world’s leading research institutions in the field of solar physics and planetary research with around 300 employees. The interdisciplinary research focus is the investigation of the development, diversity and dynamics of planets, moons, small bodies, the sun and solar-like stars. The MPS develops and operates scientific instruments for current and future space missions (e.g. ESA, NASA), and carries out cosmochemical laboratory investigations of meteorites as well as numerical modeling on state-of-the-art supercomputers.
Application Deadline: September 30, 2024
2. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We are offering a Postdoctoral Position (f/m/d) in Modelling of Planetary and Stellar Signals in Transmission Spectra within the project “LiVe” funded by the “Pioneering Research – Exploring the Unknown Unknown” program of the Volkswagen Foundation. The project is jointly run by MPS and MIT in collaboration with the MPI for Chemistry and the University of Graz. The first part of the project (led by MIT) aims to establish the possibility of Venus-like exoplanets hosting life not in water, but in concentrated liquid sulfuric acid. The goal of the second part (led by MPS) is to explore whether the biosignature of such life forms could be detected by the James Webb Space Telescope (or in the future by the Extremally Large Telescope) despite the contamination by the magnetic activity of the host star.

3. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The BMBF-funded joint project ‘CAP7 – German contribution to climate projections for CMIP7 – AR7 Fast Track, DECK and ScenarioMIP simulations’ aims to carry out climate simulations for past, present and future climate as part of the 7th Climate Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP7) a spart of DECK (Diagnostic, Evaluation and Characterisation of Climate). In the CAP7 project, the new climate configuration of the climate model ICON-XPP (eXtended Prediction and Projection) is to be expanded by an interactive carbon cycle. This project will thereby integrate recent understanding of carbon-cycle climate feedbacks into climate projections and thus contribute to a better understanding of the transient climate response to anthropogenic emissions and the effects of future emission pathways on climate change.
Application Deadline: 30.09.2024
4. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The candidate will work on science operations and exploitation of the Submillimetre Wavelength Instrument (SWI) onboard ESA’s JUpiter ICy Moons Explorer (JUICE) to pursue an internationally recognized research program with a focus on Jupiter’s atmosphere and/or the exospheres of the Galilean moons. We are looking for an internationally recognized scholar who is interested in assuming a leading role in the SWI team at MPS.
Application Deadline: September 30, 2024
5. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We invite applications for a postdoctoral position in experimental particle physics to strengthen our ATLAS Inner-Detector Group. The successful candidate is expected to make significant contributions to the analyses of ATLAS data, as well as to the assembly and test of pixel modules for the ITk. We are seeking an outstanding candidate holding a PhD (or equivalent) in experimental particle physics. Previous experience in data analyses and silicon tracking detectors is advantageous. We require good communication skills, capability to effectively work in a team and willingness for business travel in accordance with the needs of our research.
Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
6. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics as an institute of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science (registered association) is the largest centre for fusion research in Europe with about 1100 employees in Garching near Munich and Greifswald. The scientists are investigating the physical principles for a fusion power plant which – like the sun – generates energy from the fusion of light atomic nuclei. The research is carried out in seven experimental and theoretical projects aimed at developing nuclear fusion into an inexhaustible and safe source of energy for the future.
The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching offers an opportunity to participate in a postdoctorate programme within the division Plasma Dynamics (PD) to perform research activities at the fusion experiments ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) and Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X). We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Physics (m/f/d).
Application Deadline: 29.09.2024

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion (MPI CEC) in Mülheim an der Ruhr studies fundamental chemical processes for energy storage in chemical molecules. The Department for Electrosynthesis of Prof. Dr. Siegfried R. Waldvogel is working toward greener production processes as well as new screening and optimization strategies. The position is to be filled as soon as possible and is initially for one year with the possibility of an extension to the follow-up project. For the work, located in our laboratory in Mülheim an der Ruhr, we are searching for a .Postdoctoral Fellow (f/m/d) – Automation and Machine Learning.
Application Deadline: September 30, 2024
8. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The overarching goal of MuSES is to understand the physical processes near supermassive black holes that drive the launching and propagation of relativistic jets in active galactic nuclei (AGN). The project aims to study the relationship between the fundamental properties of black holes, accretion disks, and the surrounding medium, including the processes of jet acceleration, collimation, and conversion from electromagnetic to kinetic energy domination. A key focus of the project is on the details of proton acceleration and neutrino production mechanisms.
Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
9. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
One of the Institute’s research areas is focused on investigating age-related and experience-dependent metabolic and structural differences and changes of the human brain. Another research area studies long-term effects of living environments and runs intervention studies in which participants are exposed to specific environments for a short period of time, investigating the impact on brain function, to obtain causal evidence. Applicants should be interested in the development, adaptation, and application of MR brain imaging methodology that is geared towards conducting groundbreaking longitudinal, cross-sectional, and interventional studies across the lifespan (including infants, children and older adults).
Application Deadline: September 30, 2024
10. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
We seek a researcher who will carry out his/her own research along the common concerns approach, and will help to inform other researchers in the department by drawing on theories, concepts, perspectives, and expressions from Chinese intellectual traditions, broadly construed to include explicitly developed philosophies, social theories, and thought on medicine, art, and folk religion. In doing so, the successful candidate will work with colleagues to interpret their ethnographic data in a new light, and enrich our ongoing dialogue with the more established social theories that are primarily based on European traditions and experiences.
Application Deadline: Open Until Filled
11. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The lab generates large quantities of deep sequencing datasets, including RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and Nanopore long read sequencing, which we analyse using a combination of adaptation of existing bioinformatic tools and development of new analysis tools. Members of the lab also contributed to the deepTools2 suite (Ramírez et al 2016 Nucleic Acids Research) and snakePipes package (Bhardwaj et al 2019 Bioinformatics) developed by the bioinformatics facility headed by Dr. Thomas Manke.
