1. Fully Funded PhD Position in quantitative logistics with focus on electric aviation
Summary of PhD Program:
You will work within the Electric Aviation Network (EAN) project, which aims to develop decision support tools for electric aircraft network development. This includes demand modeling and market analysis, considering different types of aircraft – electric, conventional and hybrid, as well as other means of transportation. Furthermore, investment models for airports will be constructed, giving information about e.g. where charging infrastructure is needed, and how else airports need to prepare for electric aircraft traffic. Models for network planning will be developed, considering airports that today to do serve commercial traffic, and considering charging time constraints and charging prerequisites.
Application Deadline: 15th of september 2024
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in Computer Science within WASP Graduate School
Summary of PhD Program:
The research for the advertised position will be within the WASP NEST project ”AI for Attack Identification, Response and Recovery (AIR²)”, where we use AI to enhance cybersecurity. The PhD project will focus on the subtopic “Learning Interpretable Models for Identifying Attacks and Countermeasures”. Here, we will develop a network hardening loop that learns symbolic AI planning models from data, uses them to identify possible attacks, and modifies the network to prevent them from happening.
Application Deadline: August 30th 2024

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Computer Science
Summary of PhD Program:
We are looking for a PhD student in Computer Science formally based at the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA) as part of the national research program WASP. Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) is Sweden’s largest individual research program ever, a major national initiative for strategically motivated basic research, education and faculty recruitment. The program addresses research on artificial intelligence and autonomous systems acting in collaboration with humans.
Application Deadline: August 30th 2024
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Optimisation
Summary of PhD Program:
The major task for this position is research in Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP). The purpose of this PhD-thesis project is to develop new mathematical theory and algorithm components to improve the computational performance of optimisation methods used in combination with Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition. The research will be carried out in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University and the GCG development team, with Marco Lübbecke as co-supervisor.
Application Deadline: August, 22, 2024
5. Fully Funded PhD Position in Materials Engineering
Summary of PhD Program:
We are looking for two PhD students in Materials Engineering with a focus on additive manufacturing of metallic materials for aeronautical applications. The positions are financed by Vinnova, the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish aviation industry via the national aeronautical research program (NFFP). Both projects aim to ensure that the required mechanical properties are achieved in additively manufactured (AM) materials and that the manufactured components meet the performance and safety requirements of the aerospace industry.
Application Deadline: 21 August 2024
6. Fully Funded PhD Position in advanced composite materials
Summary of PhD Program:
We are looking for a driven PhD student at Linköping University (LiU) in the field of advanced fibre reinforced polymer composite materials. The PhD student will investigate manufacturing defects and develop tools and progressive damage models to quantify their effects on the mechanical performance for lighter aeroengines application. The PhD is in collaboration with GKN Aerospace Sweden AB with supervision shared between LiU and GKN Aerospace. The project aims to support the development of future, lighter aero engines, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of air travel.
Application Deadline: 21 August 2024

7. Fully Funded PhD Position in Environmental Science at Environmental Change
Summary of PhD Program:
We are now searching for a PhD student in the GROWL program. The holder of the position will work in a subproject that critically examines how the EU green transition is represented in Swedish climate policy debate and translated into policy practice by Swedish authorities, business organizations and trade unions. We approach the green transition as a discursive domain consisting of different actors with multiple, and often competing, aims, aspirations and agendas.
Application Deadline: August 20th, 2024
8. Fully Funded PhD Position in Fluid and Mechatronic Systems
Summary of PhD Program:
You will work in the national aeronautical research project “Flight test of control systems in a radio-controlled demonstrator” (FCoSUFT), the purpose of which is to test different types of control systems in subscale aircraft demonstrators. Partly traditional control systems, but also technologies at the forefront of research. The work includes flight mechanical simulations, programming of hardware, as well as reduction of flight test data.
Application Deadline: 15th of August 2024
9. Fully Funded PhD Position in Biomedical engineering – Law Enforcement with Metabolomics
Summary of PhD Program:
The research focus of this position is systems biology within forensic applications. The project involves developing new mechanistic, statistical, and deep learning models to address questions at postmortem forensic investigations. These questions include estimating the time of death and determining the cause of death using large-scale metabolomics data. The project encompasses both fundamental research to create new systems biology models in this field and applied research to demonstrate the utility of these new methods in solving real-world problems within the forensic domain.
Application Deadline: 2024-08-12
10. Fully Funded PhD Position in computer graphics and machine learning
Summary of PhD Program:
This PhD position is focusing on image synthesis, sparse modelling, compressed sensing and machine learning. We will investigate novel methods for generation of photo-realistic images using combinations of computer graphics, sensors, radiance field and light field algorithms and novel neural rendering methods. As a doctoral student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time.
