1. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Postdoctoral positions are available in Dr. Jiang Zhu’s lab as a joint appointment in the Department of Integrative Structural and Computational Biology (ISCB) and the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at Scripps Research. We are seeking highly motivated candidates who are interested in vaccine development for viral pathogens such as HIV-1, HCV, Flu, SARS-CoV-1/2, MERS-CoV, Ebola/Marburg, RSV/hMPV, and ZIKV. Dr. Zhu’s laboratory combines structure-based antigen design, protein nanoparticle engineering, animal immunization, single-cell technologies, and immunological assays to develop and evaluate next-generation vaccines. Multiple vaccine candidates are currently under clinical development with ongoing and planned phase-I human trials.

3. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Dr. Gallay lab in the Immunology and Microbiology department is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate researcher to discover new therapeutic candidates that can effectively combat SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 in both mice and in vitro models. While the development of effective vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, vaccine hesitancy in developed countries and vast shortages in low-to-middle income countries are jeopardizing efforts to curb the pandemic. It is estimated that significant proportions of the population are unlikely to be vaccinated until 2030, at the earliest. Consequently, the conditions are ripe for continued spike mutation and evolution to increasingly transmissible strains causing more severe illness.

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Constantinides Lab studies how microbes influence the development and function of innate lymphocytes (MAIT, iNKT, & gamma-delta T cells and ILCs) and the mechanism by which these immune cells regulate the microbiota and respond to pathogens. We seek a Postdoctoral Associate with published experience in microbiology and microbial analysis (16S rRNA-sequencing, metagenomics, & metabolomics), cancer immunity and transcriptional analysis (single-cell RNA-sequencing and/or spatial transcriptomics), or microscopy (confocal & two-photon).

5. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Chanda Lab has joined the Immunology and Microbiology Department at Scripps Research, where we will continue to focus on the molecular mechanisms of virus-host interactions using advanced technologies such as CRISPR, RNAi, omics, super-resolution 3D microscopy, among others. We seek to understand a pathogen’s ability to exploit the host cellular machinery and evade innate immune defenses to drive viral pathogenesis. Currently, our efforts target several RNA viruses of pandemic potential, including influenza virus, coronavirus, flaviviruses, and filoviruses. Through our Calibr arm, we have undertaken a robust drug-discovery program.

6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Sanner lab is part of the Center for Computational Structural Biology (CCSB) at Scripps where we develop cutting edge software for modeling, analyzing, and visualizing molecular interactions which we make available to the worldwide research community. Under the AutoDock Suite umbrella of automated docking software tools we have recently developed AutoDock CrankPep (ADCP in short), a docking engine specifically designed for ab-initio docking of fully flexible peptides. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual interested in method development in automated docking and their application to biomedically relevant drug discovery efforts.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Laboratory of Immune Longevity (LIL) will be opening in March 2025 within the Department of Immunology & Microbiology at the Scripps Research Institute. Applications are now being accepted for a Postdoctoral Associate position, with the role starting in March 2025. To date, many vaccination approaches against important human infectious diseases have failed, largely due to their inability of generating durable antibody titers, produced by long-lived plasma cells (LLPCs). This is a problem urging immediate attention and the successful candidate will work on unraveling the mechanisms leading to the generation of durable immune responses, with a particular focus given to LLPC biology.
