1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Biology, specialization in Ecology
Summary of PhD Program:
We are looking for a curious and motivated person with an MSc degree in ecology, animal ecology, aquatic ecology, limnology, marine ecology, theoretical ecology, or related disciplines. You should have a genuine interest in research and scientific writing. Good knowledge in ecology and demonstrated experience in analyses of ecological communities is required. Skills in dynamic population or food web modelling are advantageous. Experience and skills in aquatic field work involving fish is meriting, as is experience of biological lab work of relevance for the position. Demonstrated independent scientific work, experience of working in scientific teams, and skills in mathematics, R- or Matlab-programming are considered merits.
Application Deadline: September 24th, 2024
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in Forest Management
Summary of PhD Program:
The overall aim of the project is to develop knowledge about the establishment of Douglas fir with a focus on the origin of the planting material, but also to increase knowledge in general about the tree species’ ecology and management in southern Sweden. The project is carried out in collaboration between SLU, Linnaeus University and Skogforsk as well as in close collaboration with the forestry industry, partly via the Douglas fir network that was built with the aim of stimulating interest in the silviculture of Douglas fir and exchanging knowledge and experience.

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Plant Breeding
Summary of PhD Program:
As a PhD student with us, you will combine research with education, providing you the opportunity to develop your expertise in bioinformatics, plant genetics, and plant breeding through both theoretical courses and practical elements in the research project. You will conduct independent studies with the support of your supervisor and research team, which means you will receive guidance and support in writing scientific articles, participating in conferences, and developing your research profile.
Application Deadline: 2024-09-25
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in modelling plant-environment and plant-plant interactions
Summary of PhD Program:
Crop production needs to be transformed. Agriculture can be made more sustainable and resilient by relying more on ecosystem services provided by biodiversity and less on external inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides. These ecosystem services depend on crop traits and climate and soil conditions. This doctoral project will employ mathematical models based on ecological and physiological mechanisms to look at advantages and disadvantages of different management practices for primary production, climate change adaptation, and reduced environmental impacts.
