1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Computer and Information science with a specialization in information visualization
Summary of PhD Program:
The information visualization research group (ISOVIS, https://cs.lnu.se/isovis) at Linnaeus University is looking for a PhD candidate to engage in research related to Visual Analytics and Information Visualization. The candidate will work across a variety of topics including, but not limited to, Machine Learning, Explainable AI, Network Visualization, Graph Drawing, and Dimensionality Reduction. Through our collaborative environment with experts in these topics, the candidate will have the opportunity to work into one or more of these subjects, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in their respective fields. Join us in our pursuit of academic excellence and innovation as we shape the future of technology and research.
Application Deadline: 2024-08-15
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in Forestry Industry Production Systems with a specialization in the application of bio-adhesive in wood products
Summary of PhD Program:
The adhesive bonding of solid wood, wood particles and wood fibres is necessary to produce products that can be used in the furniture and building industries. Besides the characteristics of wood and adhesives, the quality of bonding and the properties of the final products are highly influenced by the production parameters such as tack properties, spraying conditions and pressing factors. The classical approaches to evaluate these influencing factors rely on the physical analyses of adhesives and properties assessments of the produced products while possessing limitations and unpredictable performance when new adhesive formulas with bio-based backbone polymers are used.

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Physics with specialization in Theoretical Nanomagnetism and Magnetic Metamaterials
Summary of PhD Program:
The advertised project is dedicated to magnetic metamaterials – arrays of interacting magnetic entities such as elements of artificial spin ice, coupled magnetic nano-oscillators, or various topological magnetic textures including skyrmions and beyond. These systems demonstrate interesting collective behaviour that can be used in various applications, for example, to mimic the neurons in our brain. Such neural networks are highly efficient at recognition, classification and prediction tasks and could consume less energy in performing these tasks than current computing schemes. We are seeking a PhD student in physics with a specialization in theoretical nanomagnetism and magnetic metamaterials. You will conduct research which is a part of collaboration between Linnaeus University and the University of Iceland, resulting in a dual degree from both universities.
Application Deadline: 16/08/2024
